We all find exams stressful but that stress can be heightened when we’re experiencing things which put us at a slight disadvantage. But you may be entitled to extra support during your BMAT.
Good news for some. If you normally have access arrangements for your exams, like your GCSEs and A-Levels for instance, it’s likely you can apply for the same allowances for your BMAT too.
Anyone who believes they’re at a disadvantage through no fault of their own and has up-to-date medical evidence to prove it. For example, dyslexia is seen as a special educational need and would, therefore, be eligible for additional support to aid in creating an equal advantage during the BMAT.
An officially stamped or headed medical report or statement is required. This must be signed by a registered psychologist or specialist in English. The medical report must clearly justify the request for Access Arrangements by stating the disability and how it affects your abilities within an exam environment.
An Access Arrangement application for dyslexia or other learning difficulties requires extra evidence within the report.
When registering for your BMAT online, select the Access Arrangements option and then complete your payment. You will be sent a confirmation email after booking your place on the BMAT. This email will contain instructions on where to send your additional needs evidence. Always check your spam folder as important emails can sometimes accidentally be missed due to it landing in the wrong folder.
