Changes to Section 1

There have been changes to Section 1 of the test since last year. Note these points when solving practice papers:

  • The number of questions has been lowered from 35 to 32 multiple-choice questions. The time given (1 hour) remains the same.
  • Each passage/set of data will be accompanied by one question only (no more long passages followed by four questions).
  • No inferencing or data analysis questions.

In our Online BMAT Course, we have highlighted these questions in the past papers.

A Word Limit For Section 3

In the past, students were given an A4 piece of paper on which to complete their essay. The BMAT – November 2020 will have a word limit of 550 words.

Choosing Your Universities Before Sitting the BMAT

In the past, students who had done well in the BMAT but worse in the UCAT would focus on BMAT universities.

However, most students will be sitting the test in November this year, meaning that they will need to apply before knowing their BMAT result.
