Reflecting on where we make mistakes can be a painful task to do but with the right mindset, it can actually be quite enjoyable. This post takes a look at how you can make reflecting on your own UCAT performance a task to look forward to.
It’s not the issue that is the problem it’s how you approach it and deal with it. Have you heard this before? Or something similar? This mindset can be applied to your UCAT revision practice by:
See any disappointing mock UCAT scores or feedback as a positive challenge. Set yourself small goals of working out where you went a bit off course and where you can get back on track. Investigate and try to find the solution just like you would as a doctor examining a patient. You’ll be amazed at how great you’ll feel after finding the answer to your problem.
Be realistic when examining your past and current UCAT practice. Did or do you allocate enough time to it? Is that time you allocate actually productive? Have you tried every learning style and method of practice such as UCAT books, UCAT mocks and online UCAT courses like our UCAT Online Course? It just may help to think outside of the traditional head in the textbook method and really get some valuable and proactive revision done via an online course that simulates the real UCAT exam.
Speaking and listening are great ways of learning and helping each other out. You may be good in some areas of the UCAT where others may not and they may be good in the areas that you’re not. Discussing and listening to each other could really help to improve those UCAT mock scores. Evaluate and learn each other’s practice and apply the things they do that you haven’t tried to your own UCAT revision. Of course, during COVID-19 lockdown this should be done via Skype or Facetime if you don't live in the same house.
