UCAT Final Scores are Here

UCAT

2019-10-18

It is finally time to find out where you rank amongst the other 29,375 UCAT UK test-takers. How do you compare? Let us know.

Let’s take a look at this year's UCAT 2020 entry scores:

These scores have fallen by 2.3% compared to the interim scores, which almost match last year’s final UCAT scores of 2485.

However, the Situational Judgement scores have seen a dramatic drop from last year; 21% scored in Band 1 while this year only 17% made it into this band.

To find out what percentile your scores have made it into you have to add all the individual scores of the cognitive thinking sections. So, add together the scores you gained from the Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Abstract Reasoning sections. The result of this sum will then be your total scaled score which you use to compare against the 2019 decile ranking.

What do your final scores mean?

This depends on your choice of medical schools and their individual shortlisting process. There are three elements medical schools use to determine who they pick:

Your Personal Statement

Your Academic Grades (GCSEs & A-Levels)

Your Aptitude Test Scores (UCAT & BMAT)

Every medical school values each of the above differently, so each element holds a different weight towards their final choice. One medical school may require straight As in all your GCSE science subjects and a UCAT 90th percentile, while another may only ask for C grades in your GCSEs but a UCAT 90th percentile or it may depend on how good your personal statement scores combined with your UCAT percentile.

So, how did you compare? Did you make it into the percentile for your number one medical school choice? Let us know via our social media channels at the bottom of this page.
